Capo Tennis Capistrano High School Tennis is a highly competitive and successful program. It’s also a lot of fun and promotes character, competition, and teamwork. Capo Tennis includes girls varsity and junior varsity (fall sport) and boys varsity and junior varsity (spring sport) teams. Our varsity coach, Coach Terri Machado, is ably assisted by the JV coaches, Coach Kristi Bailey (girls) and Coach Bruce Carlisle (boys). With Coach Terri’s leadership, Capo Tennis has been transformed from a team facing extensive turnover and financial difficulties to a highly successful program featuring many talented athletes. The girl’s varsity team has reached the CIF play-offs for the last 3 years. The boy’s team made it to CIF last year for the first time in 5 years and is working hard to return again this year. The other teams in the league have definitely got the message: Capo Tennis is back!! |

Coach Terri Machado Coach Terri Machado has been the girls and boys varsity coach since 2005. She brings with her a wealth of experience as a player and a coach. Coach Terri played tennis in college and was successful in numerous high-level tournaments, including play-in tournaments for the US Open. After taking a break for 20 years, she returned to competitive tennis and won the second tournament in which she played. She has extensive coaching experience as both a private and high school tennis coach. Coach Terri’s coaching philosophy is focused on helping each player achieve their fullest potential. She takes losses in stride, but insists that the team and players give their very best effort at all times. Like life, sports is all about showing your character and working hard to overcome obstacles. |
